Clopivas is a generic form of Plavix.
Clopivas is used to lessen the chance of people having a heart attack or stroke. It works by preventing certain cells forming clumps or clotting in the heart or brain.
Dosage
Clopivas comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken once a day with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Clopivas exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
What do I do if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Side Effects
Clopivas may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- excessive tiredness
- headache
- dizziness
- upset stomach
- stomach pain
- diarrhea
- constipation
- nosebleed
Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:
- black and tarry stools
- red blood in stools
- bloody vomit
- vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds
- unusual bleeding or bruising
- fever, sore throat, chills, and other signs of infection
- slow or difficult speech
- weakness or numbness of an arm or a leg
- vision loss
Clopivas may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication.
How should I store this medication?
Keep Clopivas in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
